Flowers for Dad...

I totally case'd this card from one that I found about a year ago and sent it to my dad as he was recovering from a recent surgery.  It's not a card that I'd want to make a lot of since there were so many pieces, but the finished product was pretty striking I thought. And as I tell my first graders--"rainbow" is my favorite color--I wouldn't want to play favorites!  I can't find the original picture, but I'll give credit here when I find it!

I had to snap a quick shot of it before I mailed it.  I've been sending a lot of cards before I take a photo and then I have nothing to show here...

SU Stars Fall Blog Hop!

Wow!  One of my friends commented at our last Stampin' Up party that I hadn't posted since August 12th!  That's what happens when your internet at home is intermittent at best, you have sinus surgery and school starts all in one fell swoop....but as Sheldon Cooper (character on Big Bang Theory) says in one of his shows....."I'm Baaaa.....aaack!  =-)
You should have arrived here from Jackie Watson's Creative Designs --Wasn't her card gorgeous!
I love fall, fall colors and all the cutesy things for Halloween so I did both!

For Halloween I created a card based on one that I saw posted using a stamp set from another company, I loved it so here it is using a retired SU set "Pumpkin Faces."  The little candy basket is made out of a toilet paper roll (sans toilet paper of course--ha!) and decorated with Howlstooth and Scaringbone SU designer series paper. The spider is from Googly Ghouls.   Here's a link on how to make one for yourself!  So cute and easy!

For my Fall stuff I decorated a candle that I picked up in the clearance aisle at our grocery store with the new Orchard Harvest DSP from the holiday catalog and the stamp set Day of Gratitude and then made a fall basket using the same things--I think these little baskets would work for every season!

Now head on over to Shelly Peck's Stampin' and Scrappin' News to see her wonderful scrapbook layout and card.... Enjoy our blog hop!

It's All About the....

Knot!  I found directions to tying this knot on someone's stamping blog and have used it a couple of times--once with a sailboat card that I don't think I got a picture of and this one with the ship image from Open Sea.

The next card is a CASE of a card that I saw in a little shop in Fort Scott, KS.  There was a whole rack of Stampin Up cards and wonderful crafts made by a local person.  I really liked a couple (really more than that) and came home to copy if as soon as I could.

I'll be back soon with a couple more cards....

Cards for Family....

Last Christmas, part of the gift for my mom was to be a set of cards.  She was supposed to get them from me in February (she picked out what she wanted in December) but I never seemed to have time to get them made.  So as I was recovering from pneumonia I finally got them done.  I made a ton of cards and my mom chose hers and then there were enough leftover for my sister and sister-in-law to have some too.  I'll try to show you the cards 2 at a time over the next few days....

Here are the first two--keep in mind that some of these use retired stamps, dsp or sentiments from other companies (my mom and sisters chose what they wanted):

Let me know if you have any questions.....

Summer Lovin'

Love the summer smooches dsp and the matching Bright Blossoms stamp set.  That's what I chose for my second swap card--which is a totally different style--bright with cleaner lines than my first swap I showed you yesterday.

The framelit is from the new Apothecary collection and the thanks is from Kindness Matters.  Add a little bling and bam!  Colors used were:  Pacific Point, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade and Whisper White.  I'll be back tomorrow with my swap for a Wow card that I made--didn't get most made up due to getting sick, but boy do I have all the pieces for it everywhere!

What do you do.....

....with swaps, when you have no one to swap with?  Here's my first card that I created--yes--I'm in shock here too, but I worked on coming up with some original ideas for once and am pretty pleased with the results, but, back to my first sentence.  I don't need 27 identical friend cards and 27 identical thank you cards.  To be honest they are card fronts, but that's a minor detail!  Ha!

This uses the new Storybook dsp, vintage trinkets, stripes impression folder, Tiny Tags and Greeting Card Kids

Depressing News.....

Stampin' Up Convention is this week.  I was supposed to go there and have the time of my life with Deb.  That all changed when I got the news that my 3 days of high fever equalled a diagnosis of pneumonia.  I'm not going anywhere--except the Dr.'s office.  Hopefully not the hospital if the meds do their trick.  So not only am I out the money I paid for the convention registration, but I've also got to figure out what to do with all the swaps I created.  I haven't posted in awhile because I was busy creating......hmm....at least I didn't go crazy and make a huge amount!  I'll be back soon when I feel better to post pictures of them.
